Tasting Notes
Vintage – Although 2011 was a difficult vintage with a consistent rain pattern from December 2011 to harvest in March 2012. For many vineyard’s mildews were a major problem however our boutique vineyard enabled us to spend the time required to overcome such threats, resulting in an excellent vintage. The fruit for this Reserve Riesling was harvested from the same vineyard as the 2011 Riesling which won The 2012 Royal Sydney Wine Show Trophy & Gold Medal success at the 2012 Canberrra International Riesling Challenge.
Colour – Quartz Green
Bouquet & Palate – This Reserve Riesling is designed for longevity, when first made the floral aromas and citrus flavours were restrained. With a Floral perfumed nose of lemon blossom aromas it is now emerging from its initial straight jacketed steely tightness and is opening up to glorious ripe pear and lemon/lime flavours, a firm acid spine provides mouth freshness. The lemon lime flavours linger on the palate continuing into a long, dry & refreshing finish.
Described by James Halliday in his Australian Wine Companion – 2013 as;
“A high quality wine, less overt than the standard wine, but with a purity and precision and underlying minerality that makes it certain this will emerge as the better wine in a few years time. So drink the standard and cellar this. Rating 94 To 2021”
